At Nq2 our vision is simple – to create hotels where you, as our guest or our partner, are so impressed with your time with us that you will wish to return time and time again.

Company Philosophy

When you stay at our hotels, you are our guest and we take this simple statement very seriously. We are here to assist you with any and every request you may have. We encourage and have empowered our staff to help with every query, doing away with a traditional concierge desk. In this digital age, isn’t it nicer for someone to offer to help, to make that reservation for you, to find those tickets for you, rather than to try and do it yourself online? We think so too.

We believe in fostering and investing in a talented team that works in an inspiring and an all-inclusive culture where they feel valued and taken care off in all aspects of their life. It is our ethos to care and be concerned about all aspects of our team’s life, knowing that everyone will only give their best at work when everything at home is in balance too.

Who We Are & Our Clients


Nq2 was formed as a partnership by two hotel development and design specialists with the simple desire to create beautiful hotels. The founding partners, Janine and Toby, have been designing and delivering hotels for years, working with the international brands such as Accor Hotels, Hilton Worldwide, InterContinental Hotel Group and Marriott Hotels. In 2016, with our knowledge and earned trust of the international brands, we set out to do exactly that.

Hotel pre-development, pre-opening and technical services caret-down

Nq2 provides developers of new or existing projects with technical assistance in hotel external and interior design, FF&E budgets and
specifications, costings and cashflow forecast, marketing, training, and coordination of
various disciplines during the pre-opening, development, acquisition and/or repositioning
process.

Hotel Design and Delivery caret-down

Nq2 has the hard-earned reputation to deliver hotels on time and in budget. We are always on site throughout the development or refurbishment programme, ensuring that we are always fully aware of everything that is happening. We always plan the entirety of the programme from Day One to Completion, fully understanding the risks, constraints, freedoms, lead times for materials and cashflow throughout the project.

Operational Hotel Management. caret-down

Nq 2 have our own operational management arm, Nq2 Hospitality, endorsed to operate internationally branded hotels under Franchise Agreement. Our hotel management team is led by Karl Goebel, who joined the team in 2018 specifically because of his experience in transforming and operating internationally branded hotels. Karl
is also experienced in the transition to launching a hotel to ensure that the operational
aspects of a hotel’s transformation is as seamless as the refurbishment schedule.

Operational Hotel Support caret-down

Nq2 assists owners and operators with an overall evaluation of their operations to detect areas in need of improvement and increase productivity. This includes IT, Reservations, HR, Marketing and revenue. Nq 2 is also positioned to act as a medium-term operator on repositioned, distressed or foreclosed assets until the owner’s
ultimate goals are met..

Why Invest with Nq2

At Nq2 our focus is always on return on investment, we are not lost in the romance of hotel ownership. We are always focused on value for money, return on investment, operational profit and capital value uplift at exit.

We typically structure each business deal to deliver to our investing partners an annual Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of over 33%, based upon a 3-year investment. The investor’s IRR is a combination of annual fixed return on investment of around 8-10% with an additional 75-90% profit above the returned initial capital investment through capital value uplift of the asset at exit. We have real case study to show this return.

All investments with Nq2 are based on shareholder ownership of a physical and tangible asset, an internationally branded operating hotel. Our SPV are all registered in England, as is Nq2.

Meet The Team

Toby Barnes-Taylor MBE Founding Partner & Project Director

Toby is a founding partner and project director for Nq2. Toby has over 25 years’ experience in leading and delivering large and complex projects with project costs of £2M to £30M. He has run his own project management consultancy since 2011, specializing in the hospitality industry in UK and Europe and has worked with the top hotel brands of Hilton and InterContinental Hotels Group. His reputation has been built on always delivering projects on time, on budget and to the quality standards required. Toby leads every project personally and he is usually found on site to ensure that any and every question, clarification or risk is understood and resolved before it becomes an issue.

Janine Powell Founding Partner & Design Director

Janine is a founding partner and designer director for Nq2. Janine has over 25 years of interior design and FF&E procurement experience and runs her own design company in Devon & London. Janine’s main forte and flair is within the hotel and leisure sector and she has worked with some of the top hotel chains throughout the UK, Europe and Africa such as IHG, Hilton, Accor, Marriott, Best Western & Wyndham Hotels. Setting up the Devon division of the design practice in 2008, Janine heads every project personally supported by her studio designers, FF&E specifiers and CAD technicians to deliver a complete design package tailored to each clients needs and the brand requirement.

Karl Goebel Director of Operations

Karl is the Director of Operations for Nq2. Karl has over 17 years of experience managing, running and pre-opening new hotels. He has been brought into the team precisely because of his expertise and experience in branding, launching and operating both branded and unbranded hotels. Karl is in charge overall management of Nq2 hotel operations through Nq2 Hospitality as well as franchise negotiation, management and delivery of project.

Tania Estevao Head of Brand Implementation

Tania is the Head of Brand Implementation at Nq2. Tania is newly appointed from General Manager at Mercure Bournemouth and interim General Manager at voco Lythe Hill Hotel and Spa. Tania is responsible to ensure all Brand Standards are achieved and maintained from concept through to current and ongoing operations in all Nq2 Hotels, working in concert with both hotel project delivery, operational management and Brand team.

Silva Bala Business Development Director

Silva is the Business Development Director for Nq2. Silva promoted into Nq2 to lead all revenue generation across all hotels from Sales Manager at Mercure Bournemouth. As well as leading all hotel specific revenue and sales, she focuses on corporate business capture working across all Nq2 hotels to give a strategic view and benefit.

Claise Fernandes Finance Manager

Claise is the Finance Manager at Nq2 to ensure strict control of all financial matters across all Nq2 hotels. Claise also leads all finance reporting at each hotel to ensure standardisation and accuracy of accounts to allow detailed departmental financial understanding and revenue performance analysis.

Abi Clough Digital Marketing Executive

Abi is the Digital Marketing Executive at Nq2. Abi joined the team in 2021, promoting from Sales Executive at Mercure Bournemouth to work in Nq2 across all our hotels. Abi is responsible for all digital marketing across all platforms for all hotels, their websites, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and Facebook, coordinating all marketing with hotel sales teams.
